Inner Game History on You Tube!
Take a look at these video clips featuring a 1975 American ABC documentary in which Tim Gallwey was challenged to get a complete beginner, Molly, to play tennis in twenty minutes.
To view, just click on the video frames below.
From the video:
Tim: 'The key of all the exercises in the Inner Game is to focus the mind's attention somewhere where it will not interfere with the body's ability to hit the ball automatically.'
Molly: 'Everytime I did start to think, things went wrong. When you just stop thinking, the body seems to know what to do!'
Tim: 'Have a clear idea of what you want, then let it happen.' Molly: 'All of a sudden, everything became effortless..'
So how do we as coaches or performers help reduce the kind of mental interference that Molly describes in this video?
If you'd like to understand, experience and practice the philosophy and techniques that can provide solutions to this perennial problem and more, then contact us, read the articles and check out the links on www.innerworkscoaching.org, or come on one of our Inner Works Coaching training courses..
