This month, IWC is focussing on basketball - we are going to be running a pilot coach training day for UK Basketball on May 19th which we hope will lead to the chance to run further courses. Andy and I are observing some basketball youth coaching in Hertfordshire next week to get further insight into the specifics of how basketball coaches may be able to incorporate the Inner Game principles in practice.
I'll be interested to see how much choice is being given to the players - my current image of basketball coaching is very directive, with the coach calling all the shots and shouting at the sidelines during a game. There's no doubt that this approach gets some top level results - if this is the style of coaching we see next week, I'll be looking for what works. Then assessing the implications of adding some extra ingredients!
